Abstract
We present our experience of treating upward-migrated huge disc herniation of the cervical spine using the anterior transcorporeal foraminotomy with the O-arm-assisted navigation system (Medtronic navigation, Inc., Louisville, CO, USA). Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion is a conventional treatment for cervical radiculopathy due to cervical disc herniation. However, anterior cervical corpectomy is necessary in the case of huge migration. To avoid fusion-related complications, we attempted to directly approach the ventral epidural space, thus preserving the intervertebral disc integrity and minimizing the risk of vertebral artery or sympathetic chain injury.
